About us
The research group of Weed Science and Plant Ecology from Universitat de Lleida - Agrotecnio is a research group recognised officialy (SGR 2021 00325) by the Catalan Administration. Started his activity 25 years ago and develops his research in the field of agronomy and plant ecology. The group is made up of six doctors, five PhD students, four students doing their TFG or TFM degree and a technician.
The reserach group is member of the Center CERCA Agrotecnio and is leadering the Action Group "Weed Science" from Campus Iberus withs scientist from Universidad Pública de Navarra, Universidad de Zaragoza, CITA de Aragón, SSV DARP de Catalunya and CICYTEX Extremadura.
Membres of the group are part of the current board of the Sociedad Española de Malherbología (SEMh) and also coordinate the "Comité de Prevención de la Resistencia a Herbicidas (CPRH)" from this Society.
Inside the subjects of the group for the next years hihlights the commission of the European Weed Research Society (EWRS) to organise the next European Symposium in the year 2025 in Lleida.
What we do
Des de la universitat, l’activitat del grup es centra en aprofundir en els processos ecològics intrínsecs dels agroecosistemes, en especial d’aquells protagonitzats per la flora arvense. Aquest coneixement es planteja des de la investigació en tots els camps relacionats amb la biologia, ecologia i maneig de les males herbes amb un clar objectiu vers la sostenibilitat de la producció, tant agronòmica com mediambiental. Tanmateix, el convenciment i compromís del grup amb la transferència de coneixement vers diferents agents del sector productiu (agents d’extensió, assessors, productors, empreses) esdevé un dels pilars de la seva activitat. Finalment, a partir de la seva activitat de recerca i transferència, el grup projecta els seus coneixements en aquelles activitats docents de grau i postgrau on participa.
